I love collecting photographs while travelling, they are some of my most cherished and well looked after possessions. I keep them close at hand, close to the heart and they take me back to a special day or certain emotion I may have felt at the time.
I believe everyone should be proud of and love their travel photos because why would you want to look back on the best times of your life with bad pictures? It doesn't have to be difficult to improve your photography, the following are some simple guidelines I swear by.
#1 GET A HIGH-QUALITY CAMERA THAT'S EASY TO USE
Iguana Sanctuary in San Ignacio, Belize
You are able to take brilliant travel photos on your smartphone nowadays, but in time, when your talent and interest grows you will see phones are only capable to do so much. You will notice a huge difference in your photographs with a higher quality camera and be able to show your true potential. I use a CANON EOS 1300D DSLR CAMERA and love it! It's very easy to use and I just wish I had purchased it sooner as they produce much higher quality and detailed photos.
#2 CAPTURE PEOPLE IN YOUR PHOTO
Denmark, Western Australia
Lake Atitlan, Guatemala
Having people in your photographs is beautiful and I believe, more interesting in certain pictures. Human beings give a photograph an element of an emotion and let the viewer imagine they were actually there. This could be you, your friends, complete strangers or an example of local life. The candid pictures above are far more engaging than if only the surroundings were shot.
#3 USE A GoPro TO GRAB IMAGES FROM VIDEOS
Great Barrier Reef, Australia
I use this approach all the time because of how interesting and unique it makes my photos. Instead of taking pictures so much, video your experiences and then grab the photo later. It can be time-consuming if you have a lot of clips but its worth it to get a perfect shot! Download the GoPro App on your phone then when you view the videos from your camera, it will give you an option to save a single frame. These photos are high quality, natural and very special. GoPro's are made for action shots so its a perfect way to capture exciting moments!
#4 REMEMBER THAT LIGHTING IS IMPORTANT
